This work aims at discussing systems ecology concept as a tool for a better understanding of ecosystems under stress conditions as well as for a ecosystem management development. These tools are directly connected to biodiversity, fundamental component of ecosystems and of their services. They can help the holistic interpretation of systems ecology. For that, we introduce the concepts under discussion, give a short visit to evolution concept and discuss the different and more used ecosystem services. We intend to show how biodiversity is the pillar of all goods and services and what are the most important threats to biodiversity loss. At last, we discuss the natural-based solutions that can be used to apply this concept.
